December 28, 2007 INTERNATIONAL JURIED ART COMPETITION Artists are invited to submit outdoor sculptures to be featured at the Eleventh Annual Peace Arch Park International Sculpture Exhibition from May 1st ~ October 1st, 2008. All materials must be completely weatherproof and suitable for public viewing. Site-specific proposals are acceptable for entry. Over 500,000 people visit the historic international peace park each year. October 31, 2007 "Internal Illumination" This juried exhibition is open to all two- and three-dimensional artwork that incorporates components of internal illumination, either by electrical or chemical means. Lighting in the display areas will be minimized to allow an accentuation of the glowing characteristics of the work. No work that involves fire or uncontained chemicals, however, can be accepted for this exhibition. Exhibition dates are December 21, 2007-February 1, 2008. November 1, 2007 DECEMBER JURIED EXHIBITION Projekt30 is accepting for its publicly juried exhibition, scheduled to open December 1st, 2007. We are an artist- run arts organization dedicated to promoting emerging artists. The exhibition will include thirty artists; invitations will be distributed to over 50,000 galleries, collectors, and fellow artists. All artwork submitted will be presented online prior to the exhibition so visitors of Projekt30 may help select which artists will be included in the exhibition. Oct 31, 2007 2007 RESIDENCY SEASON AT THE ARTISTS' ENCLAVE AT I-PARK I-Park announces its seventh season hosting The Artists' Enclave. Artists' residencies, self-directed/project oriented, will be offered from May through October 2007. Most sessions are four weeks in duration, with a six-week session planned for October-November. Residencies will be offered to visual (including digital) artists, music composers, environmental artists, landscape and garden designers and architects. Work samples will be evaluated through a competitive, juried process. There is a $20 application processing fee required and artists are responsible for their own transportation to the area. They also provide for their own food and work materials. The facility is otherwise offered at no cost to accepted artists. I-Park is a 450-acre natural woodland retreat in rural East Haddam, Connecticut. Accommodations include comfortable private living quarters in an 1850's farmhouse, shared bathroom facilities and a private studio on the grounds. The goal of the International Fiber Collaborative is to provide an opportunity for people who enjoy working with crafts, whether professional artists, hobbyists or students to come together from all over the world to express their concerns about their countries extreme dependency on oil for energy. Those who participate will crochet, knit, stitch, patch, or collage a 3' x 3' square fiber panel that will express each participants concern towards this topic. By taking the step to create a panel with any design, and sending it in, in the larger picture, is expressing your concern. Once all 800 panels are received, they will be sewn together to completely cover an abandoned gas station and gas pumps in central New York.
